In this section, we include writings in which youth speak for themselves about the violence in their lives and about the remedies they see for that violence. These brief pieces have appeared previously in New Youth Connections and Foster Care Youth United, two magazines published by the New York-based organization Youth Communication, and in Peaceworks, a publication of the American Friends Service Committee, which is located in Cambridge, Massachusetts. By including these young people's perspectives, we hope to provide a more complete account of the challenges facing youth as they grow up in a violence-filled world.
