Abstract

Noting that intellectuals often value power more than truth, the author uses examples from American foreign policy to discuss the failure of the intellectual community to involve itself responsibly with current social problems. He suggests that the schools should deal objectively with moral issues while defending themselves, if need be, against both government propaganda and the indifference of intellectuals.
