Abstract
Reflecting on her experiences as a teacher in Texas, Kathleen Mayse critiques the context of a super-testing culture and makes an appeal to President Obama to lead us in a new educational direction. She argues for an approach that embraces and utilizes the knowledge of the real experts in the field—teachers—and recognizes the importance of the relationships teachers build with their students. Through understanding the practices of master teachers, she tells us, we might learn how to actually leave no child behind.
