Abstract

The recent controversy over equality of educational opportunity has focused largely on the findings and pronouncements of social scientists. In this discussion, five educational practitioners—each of whom is involved in attempts to implement equal educational opportunity—have been asked to comment on the best means to achieve this equality. Some make reference to the finding of social scientists, but they speak basically from their own varied experiences and perspectives within the educational enterprise.
